During Break Week, two Pilon School of Business BBA students participated in the How to Change the World event. This event is an experiential education program that guides participants on a unique learning journey where they work in interdisciplinary teams exploring real-world sustainability challenges, practice their newfound systems thinking skills and incorporate the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals into their team’s challenges.  The program brought together 110+ participants representing 18 Higher Education Institution Partners including Sheridan, McGill, Western, University of Waterloo, Concordia, Dalhousie University and others.  Participants included students from Business, Engineering, Science & Info Tech and Legal & Social Sciences programs.

PSB students Gabby Moryoussef (BBA Marketing Management) and Yudav Rambali (BBA Human Resources Management) spent five intense days collaborating with colleagues, teaching staff mentors, local stakeholders and experts, which resulted in 36 unique solutions overall.  Four global sustainability challenges were presented to all of the participants and our BBA students tackled challenges that were associated with UN Sustainable Development Goal #13 – Climate Action.

Congratulations to Gabby’s team for their win – Best Overall Solution for the Energy Hero – Climate Action Challenge, and Yudav’s team for their win – Most Creative Solution for The Learning Hub – Climate Action Challenge.

Huge thanks to Program Coordinator, Carol Bureau, who nominated Gabby and BBA Embedded Advisor, Parmin Dhoot, who nominated Yudav.

“The How to Change the World program was a wonderful experience. Leveraging my own strengths in the marketing field to complement my colleagues’ fields to create a worthwhile solution was invigorating given the timeframe we had to complete the challenge. I’m so grateful for the experience and the insights that came from it.”   Gabby Moryoussef

“Participating in How to Change the World has been awesome. I’ve been able to meet so many interesting people and being exposed to higher-level students from other schools is definitely serving as motivation. Also, my classes in the BBA program have helped to prepare me to contribute”.    Yudav Rambali

Below are the Digital Portfolios that represent the incredible work Gabby and Yudav accomplished during the program.
