PSB Welcomes Associate Dean, Dr. Roya Rouzbehani

The Pilon School of Business is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Roya Rouzbehani to the role of Associate Dean, Finance, Accounting Management and Economics.

After an extensive search process, that attracted highly qualified candidates, I am very pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Roya Rouzbehani to the position of Associate Dean in the Pilon School of Business, effective January 17, 2022.  In her capacity as Associate Dean, Roya will be responsible for the Finance, Accounting Management and Economics portfolio of programs.

Roya joins Sheridan having successfully held a number of progressive leadership positions in academia and industry both nationally and abroad. Roya’s career to date has spanned three continents, four countries, and five cities. Starting out as the chair of the graduate student association at the School of Management of the University of Tehran, Roya transitioned into teaching, research, and curriculum development at the University of Victoria in British Columbia while leading high-profile multi-stakeholder research initiatives in the Middle East, Europe, and North America. Roya is passionate about learners and the learning process and has extensive experience in developing curriculum and teaching across a variety of programs and disciplines including Business Administration, Community Development and Public Administration. Roya has also managed Primary Care Networks at the BC Ministry of Health where she identified the policy gaps to address the inherent racism of the healthcare system and ensured seamless delivery of healthcare services.

Roya holds a number of credentials and qualifications including a Ph.D. in Public Administration, and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Tehran. Roya’s areas of research interest and expertise include collaborative governance regimes, cross-sector collaboration, innovation, power asymmetry, and knowledge management to name a few. Roya also has interests and strengths in boundary spanning, neuroscience, quantum social science, cultural agility, and curriculum renewal. Roya’s research has been published in peer-reviewed journals and academic textbooks, and her work on barriers of cross-sector collaboration earned her the 2019 Best Research Award from the Canadian Association of Programs in Public Administration (CAAPA).

Outside of her work, Roya also volunteers to support community development initiatives including mental health along with local theatres and is inspired by system thinking and principles of community resilience. She is also a journal reviewer for Taylor & Francis Press and enjoys mindful photography, walking, hiking, and running in her free time.

I am grateful to the search committee for their contributions to this important recruitment process. In addition to the search committee, I am grateful for the valued input provided by our stakeholder group members from across the college, and program coordinators from the FAME portfolio.
