Message from The Dean, Dr. Anne-Liisa Longmore
It is my privilege to introduce the newly refurbished and reformatted Pilon School of Business Newsletter – Speaking Biz. After many months of hiatus, our Speaking Biz newsletter has been reborn thanks to the hard work and enthusiastic stewardship efforts of Cathryn Oliver, Marianne Sy-Lucero, and Margaret Bawtinheimer. Our newly crafted Speaking Biz newsletter is made possible through the generosity and expert knowledge and experience of Professor Nathan Mallett, Coordinator of the Public Relations and Corporate Communications program at Sheridan and his talented students – who have graciously taken on our Speaking Biz newsletter as an experiential learning project in their class.
This inaugural edition of our Speaking Biz newsletter includes an amazing array of community updates including a story about the relaunched advertising and marketing program, further information about micro-credentials, a library and learning services update on a couple of new learning and study modules available, news about “Accelerate Her Future” a 10 week fellowship program for women of colour, invitation to yoga, a story about collaborative online international learning, announcement of the 2021 SRCA Growth Grants, and more!
As I reflect on the last several months, I continue to be inspired and impressed with the character, values, resilience, and adaptability of our PSB community. During these unprecedented times, our community has remained stead-fast in its collective commitment to our learners, each other, and our partners (both internal and external). I hope each of you feels the pride that I do for how our community regularly demonstrates a growth mindset, commitment to quality, and an unwavering willingness to share and learn from and with one another.
As we continue into the second half of this Fall semester, I look forward to re-engaging with our community for our regular coffee chats. I have so enjoyed having the opportunity to connect and catch up informally. Many of you have also reached out and shared how much you enjoy connecting during our coffee chat forums. Tommy has started placing holds in Outlook, and as always attendance is optional. In addition, I will be holding space in my calendar on Friday afternoons for drop in appointments. As well, should any you wish to connect with me 1:1, please contact Tommy to coordinate a time.
Enjoy our community newsletter, and we invite you to consider contributing to our evolving PSB story by sharing one of your stories and updates in Speaking Biz.
As always please feel free to reach out to me via email, or one of your Associate Deans/Managers, should you have any questions, suggestions, or concerns.
Please stay safe and stay well.
Dr. Anne-Liisa Longmore
