Meet Sandy McKean, Dean of the Pilon School of Business
Sandy McKean first joined Sheridan in 2006 as an Associate Dean in the Faculty of Animation, Arts and Design (FAAD) where he managed a cluster of programs in media, film and television, journalism and corporate communications. After a two year break he returned to Sheridan in the Pilon School of Business as an Associate Dean for a variety of portfolios including the Advertising, Marketing and Finance programs. In late Summer 2017 he assumed the Dean’s role in the Pilon School of Business, overseeing a student population of 4,800 in a wide range of business-related diplomas, advanced diplomas, degrees and graduate certificate programs.
Sandy did his undergraduate studies at the University of New Brunswick with a focus on Political Science and then began a lengthy career in media as a reporter, executive producer and television news executive. Through this path he worked for a daily newspaper, the Canadian Press wire service and more than three decades with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.
Dean McKean has always had a passion for education and feels his years in journalism have prepared him for his current role in continuing to build a business school that prepares students for the 21st century challenges of a rapidly changing global economy.
As of August 2018, Sandy McKean assumes the newly created position of Campus Principal for the Hazel McCallion Campus (HMC) for the coming year.
