Gearing up for the job search: resume critique at Davis
As the semester winds down, it is not only crunch time to finish projects and study for finals. It is time to apply for jobs. What student doesn’t dream of striking up that amazing summer job? What graduate doesn’t wish to finish school with a job already lined up?
Motivated to help students in the job search process, the Human Resources Association at Davis held a 3-hour resume critique workshop on campus. The event was free and open to everyone.
“Putting together a resume is hard, and we all know that it may be a determining factor when looking for jobs. We want to help students go out there confident that their resumes are strong, and that they convey their experience and education well,” said Hadia Tariq, vice-president of the Human Resource Association.
The critique session aimed at giving one-on-one assistance to students, who were looking for in-depth evaluations of their resumes. The event was such a success that the association’s volunteers had their hands full and several students were directed to the Career Centre on campus. There, students can find several resources such as professional resume reviews, mock interviews and advice regarding job searching.
The Human Resources Association will continue to organize similar events. To get involved with this club, contact Hadia Tariq at firstname.lastname@example.org.
