“Amazing event!  The Sheridan students attending learned so much, made friends from schools across Canada and around the world and acted in a very professional manner.  They should all be very proud of themselves for the way that they represented Sheridan at the event.” – John Laugesen, MIS Coach

The Inter-Collegiate Business Competition (I.C.B.C) was hosted at Queen’s University at Kingston, Ontario. It hosts competitors from business schools all around Canada and the world. Participants compete in teams of two in seven different categories (Accounting, Finance, Business Policy, Marketing, Human Resources, Ethics and Management of Information Systems). The final round of the competition was hosted from January 19-21 at Queen’s University.

This year, Sheridan College placed in the top six schools going into the final round for the Accounting and Management of Information Systems category. The team members were Hamlet Shahmirzaeian and Maria Alam (Accounting Team) and Anna Turek and Pierre Quan (Management of Information Systems Team). Lorraine Cipparrone coached the Accounting Team and John Laugesen coached the MIS team. Our teams were among the top six in their category in Canada going into the final round!

The observer team was made up of executives from PSBCT and guests who attended the event to support the teams and observe the competitions. The team was made up of Joanna Wang, Nehal Phillips, Nicholas Soares, Timothy Jason Rahardjo.

Nehal Phillips, Vice President – Internal of the PSBCT noted that, “The I.C.B.C competition was an extremely prestigious and rewarding event as it allowed us to connect with motivated, passionate and dedicated teams from business schools all around Canada. We had a really good time observing other teams compete in the final round, motivating our teams through the final round of the competition and developing best practices for the competition next year. I am extremely proud of our teams at Sheridan and encourage all business students to participate in this wonderful competition for next year.”

Congratulations to our finalists and competitors!
