This two-day event consists of eight case challenges, two individual events, and one team event called Quiz-Bowl for a total of 11 events. For each case challenge, teams of two are given 30 minutes to analyze a case and develop a plan. Once their prep-time has ended, teams must present their plan to a panel of industry judges. In Quiz-Bowl, teams of four compete against one another and are presented with questions on both traditional and current marketing knowledge. Each round consists of seven questions and teams are eliminated to produce a winning team.

After two eventful days and months of training, Sheridan’s team placed first in Entrepreneurship, International Marketing, and Prospect Pitching, 2nd Place in Marketing, 2nd and 3rd Place in Quiz-Bowl, and 4th place in Job Interview and Sales Presentation. With a total of 51 points, Sheridan College placed 2nd behind Conestoga College (1st Place).

Every year at OCMC, a student is awarded the William & Margaret Lydiatt Award. This award recognizes a student from a participating College who has demonstrated exceptional spirit in the weeks leading up to the competition. This year’s award recipient was Arden Brown, a Business Administration – Marketing student at Sheridan College. Arden has participated in OCMC for the past two years and has been an integral member of the team. As the team’s Co-Captain, she has helped to organize team get-togethers and events to provide students and faculty the opportunity to meet, network, and have some fun before and during the weeks of training. Professor John Cooper, who nominated Arden for the award, is extremely proud of her success. “Arden certainly embodies the traits, attitudes, and leadership that the OCMC was looking for in their candidate selection for the William & Margaret Lydiatt Award. We know she has been an invaluable leader here at Sheridan.” said Cooper.

“I’m so honored to have won this award [William & Margaret Lydiatt Award],” said Sheridan’s OCMC Team Co-Captain, Arden. “Working with the coaches and students has helped me to grow my leadership skills and I’m going to miss being a part of such an amazing team.”

For over 25 years, Sheridan College has participated in OCMC and has placed first in 2014, 2012, and 2010. Sheridan hosted the competition in 2010 and will host again in 2020.

Congratulations to all of our teams and coaches!
