Students were recruited for the team in April 2015. Some teams began training for OCMC two or three hours a week as early as summer and continued right up until competition.
“We met up about 2 to 3 hours every week starting in August but the training didn’t stop there.” said Quiz-Bowl member, Marianne Sy-Lucero. “My team members and I spent most, if not all, of our free time studying terms and memorizing content. It has been a stressful five months but I’m thrilled to have done it.”
For over 25 years, Sheridan College has participated in OCMC and has placed first in 2014, 2012, and 2010. Sheridan hosted the competition in 2010 and will host again in 2020.
“OCMC was a truly amazing experience. We put in hundreds of hours preparing for this and to hear our names announced as winners was such an incredible feeling.” said gold medal winner in Integrated Marketing Communications, Stephen Kostuk. “I’m glad I had the chance to do it again.”
