Hoops All-Stars Social Media Challenge

On Thursday March 5th, 2015 Sheridan College’s Pilon School of Business hosted its annual Social Media Challenge in Brampton. This challenge pushed students to think outside of the box to create a unique social media campaign tailored to the needs of this year’s client, Hoops All-Stars.
Hoops All-Stars is a not-for-profit organization founded by Sheridan Faculty member, Sherif Wahby, that organizes free non-competitive basketball camps for boys and girls between 7 to 13 years of age. Since 2005 they have ran free week-long camps across the GTA through the support of corporate sponsors, foundations and community partners. The locations of the camps vary by year and are based on need and facility availability.
On the day of the event, teams were given the opportunity to work with a mentor before pitching to the client. During this time, the teams did a run through of their presentation and then made any necessary changes where needed. Afterwards, each team was given 15 minutes to present their idea to the judges which was followed by a 5 minute Q&A. Once all of the teams presented, the judges deliberated on a winner.
