Celebrating Success, an Oakville Beaver/ Metroland advertising insert focused on the success stories of this year’s graduating classes from Sheridan was again produced by Sheridan Advertising, Journalism and Photography students. For the third year in a row, Advertising Post Graduate students sold advertising for an advertising insert, titled Celebrating Success, with distribution of 10,000 copies to homes around the Oakville Campus and delivered inside the Oakville Beaver newspaper.

The advertising insert Celebrating Success is centered around interesting stories of selected students ready to graduate from many of Sheridan’s program and are written by Journalism students with the photography completed by students in the Photography program.

“The Oakville Beaver/Metroland project encompasses interdisciplinary and interprofessional practices resulting in robust experiential learning for the students and it brings together students from several Sheridan programs including Sheridan’s Advertising, Journalism and Photography programs,” said course Professor Maureen Garbut.

This year, a co-curricular record (CCR) has been set up for the Journalism and Photography program students who participate so that they can add this experience to their CCR,  while the Advertising Students use this project experience as part of their standard program curriculum.

In the past, this student produced insert has received an honorable mention at industry awards and has won gold in Metroland’s internal awards presentation. The students gain valuable experience working with clients, industry professionals and end up with a professional piece for their own portfolio.
