Sheridan Faculty of Business welcomes new professors for 2013

BharratBharat Aggarwal holds a Certified Management Accounting designation and a Doctorate of Business Administration from Athabasca University; he also holds certification in International Financial Reporting Statistics, Bharat has taught at Seneca and Humber College and at Algoma University. Aggarwal’s experience include positions with CMA Canada, AGFA, Toyota and Research in Motion.

???????????????????????????????Professor Karen Booth has more than 20 years experience in both entrepreneurial and large enterprise organizations including senior positions across multiple disciplines including client services, project management, marketing and sales and operations and technology. Professor Booth holds a Bachelor of Business from Ryerson University and a Marketing and Retail diploma. Karen completed Queens University Advanced Executive Certificate in General Management and recently completed course work in the MBA program at Edinburgh Business School through Heriot-Watt University.

Ed Brooker2Professor Ed Brooker’s educational background includes a PhD from Griffith University, Queensland, Australia with a focus on unique innovation approaches to small business; a Masters degree in Local Economic Development, and a Bachelor of Environmental Studies from the University of Waterloo. Ed has extensive prior experience most recently as Guest Lecturer at the University of Otago, New Zealand, and at Niagara College.

CooperProfessor John Cooper is a strategic marketing executive with more than 30 years experience building and delivering brands in consumer goods and business to business sectors. Cooper has experience at General Mills, FedEx, Rapp Collins Canada, and was Vice-president, Marketing, for Purolator Courier.  John holds a BA from University of Toronto in Economics and Political Science, and MBA in Marketing from Schulich School of Business, and a certificate in Adult Education from Sheridan.

Sonia DhaliwalSonia Dhaliwal is a Chartered Accountant and holds a Master of Taxation degree. She is currently studying in a PhD program through the Glasgow Caledonian University in Scotland. Professor Dhaliwal has taught a variety of accounting and finance courses at the Ted Rogers School of Business at Ryerson. Sonia’s industry experience includes technical and management positions with the Auditor General of Ontario, Deloitte Touche, Ernst & Young and Grant Thornton.

Angie GarmaiseProfessor Angie Garmais graduated with an Honours BA in History with a double major in English. She then translated her working experience within  her family’s service-industry business into a career in Human Resources at Loblaw Companies Limited. Garmais completed the Human Resources post-graduate certificate through the Human Resources Professionals Association of Ontario. In 2006 Angie began her career as educator at Seneca College and completed her MA in English at the University of Toronto in 2009.

Ed MarinosEdward Marinos began his career as an elementary and secondary school teacher. After completing his MEd in Adult Education he transitioned to Organizational Development and Learning and Development roles for the Toronto Transit Commission, Canadian Tire, the Ministry of The Environment, ZENON Environmental, General Electric, and recently with Rexall-Pharma Plus Drug Stores as Senior Director of L & D. Professor Marinos has completed his PhD in Education with a specialization in Organizational Learning and has taught at Centennial, Humber, OISE, and the Schulich School of Business.

Mark Meldrum2Professor Mark Meldrum holds a PhD from the Weatherhead School of Management, Case western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. Most recently Professor Meldrum has been Assistant Professor at the University of Windsor and has also taught at Wayne State University and Case Western. Meldrum also has an entrepreneurial background, and has founded and developed several enterprises in the Windsor area.

Irene PlavcicIrene Plavcic, Professor of Accounting holds a CPA, CA, CIA, CFE and a MBA from Schulich School of Business at York University. Plavcic’s teaching experience includes Finance and acoounting courses at George Brown, Mohawk, University of Toronto, Ryerson University and Sheridan. Irene co-founded a consulting business specializing in strategy development and implementation.  Irene has held positions with Loblaw Companies Limited, Norbord Industries and Price Waterhouse Coopers.
