Professors Ginger Grant and Golnaz Golnaraghi are Linchpin TEDx speakers at Milton Centre for The Arts
Sheridan Faculty of Business professors Dr. Ginger Grant and Golnaz Golnaraghi, joined the company of sought after speakers as they delivered their TED Talk through TEDx Milton at The Milton Centre for the Arts, September 14 where the theme of the TEDx event was Linchpin.
“As a sometime introvert, I felt that delivering a TED talk was like running the Boston Marathon – the experience was terrifying, exhilarating and yet a life changing experience while sharing my story with the audience,” said Golnaz Golnaraghi, Professor in Sheridan’s Faculty of Business.
Professor Golnaz Golnaraghi opened the event by sharing how she found harmony in her identity as a Canadian, Iranian, Muslim and Feminist. She presented her own life journey as examples for her TEDx thesis, as well as, using her research on hybrid identities, and assuring the audience that being a Corporate Linchpin means that she chose how to view her own identity through her own experiences rather than allowing self limiting beliefs or the opinions of others to define her.
Professor Ginger Grant closed the TEDx event with a powerful talk on creativity and corporate culture. Dr. Grant identified the number one criteria for a creative culture is to give autonomy to employees over their work. Being a linchpin means being the hero of your own journey and having the power to choose living your passion.
Professors Grant and Golnaraghi felt the TEDx experience was a positive one. Videos of their TED Talk will be live in November and posted as soon as they are available.
