Post-graduate Advertising students rewarded by Oakville Beaver for top sales in college insert

Sheridan Faculty of Business graduate certificate Advertising Management were rewarded for their expert sales performance recently as Oakville Beaver Advertising Director Daniel Baird presented the top three sales teams with Maple Leaf hockey tickets, gift certificates and more for their excellent advertising sales in the recent joint venture with Sheridan journalism, photography and advertising students.

Sheridan Faculty of Business Advertising Management students teamed with Sheridan’s Journalism and Photography students to produce and sell advertising for a special April insert celebrating Sheridan’s class of 2012 graduates in The Oakville Beaver. The special insert to the Beaver will be distributed to more than 10,000 homes surrounding Sheridan’s Trafalgar campus and will feature 2012 graduating students complete with photographs and background articles from each of Sheridan’s Faculties located at the Trafalgar campus.

The joint venture with Sheridan students and The Oakville Beaver allowed students to actually create and sell advertising space in a prestigious insert to a widely distributed newspaper.  “Many people from Metroland, The Oakville Beaver and Sheridan are involved in this project –  it has been a rewarding experience as everyone involved clearly has put our students first, providing them with a realistic learning experience to take into their careers,” said Maureen Garbutt, Sheridan Advertising professor.
