Sheridan Tourism Travel students conduct site visit at Fairmont Royal York Hotel in Toronto
“Participating in Hotel Site inspections gives a Travel Service Provider the opportunity to determine the strengths and weaknesses of a property. Once our students are in industry they will be expected to conduct themselves in a professional manner as they visit properties and know what to look for as they evaluate the hotel,” said Victoria Renton, Coordinator Sheridan Tourism and Travel program.
” By participating in College guided hotel inspections our Graduates are ready to hit the ground running. Fairmont Hotels and Resorts is very supportive of Sheridan College and we thank them for allowing our students to participate in the Site inspection and for also taking a Sheridan Tourism and Travel student for a 100 hour of Field placement experience each February,” said Renton.
Sheridan Tourism Travel graduate, Bethany Georgas, is the Coordinator of Brand Development and Global Partnerships for Fairmont Hotels and Resorts. Georgas interned at Fairmont Hotels and Resorts while at Guelph, she resumed work with the firm during her field placement semester at Sheridan. After graduation Bethany was offered her current position. Bethany, who graduated with high honours, found that she flourished under the hands-on, practical learning environment she was seeking.
“The willingness of my professors to get to know me personally made all the difference. Their friendliness, patience and caring for my well-being really resonated with me,” said Georgas.
