Sheridan Faculty of Business students to attend Mayor Hazel McCallion’s birthday celebration

As a result of a generous donation by Randy Pilon, President & CEO of Virox Technologies Inc., William Holmes, Dean of the Faculty of Business has been able to extend an invitation to a group of 10 business students to accompany Sheridan’s president, Jeff Zabudsky, who will be presenting Mississauga Mayor Hazel McCallion with a gift from Sheridan’s glass studio in celebration of the Hazel’s 90th birthday.  The 10 students, representing the programs from the Faculty of Business, will join the Sheridan Student Union and Peer Mentor team on stage to honour Mayor McCallion’s birthday as part of the ceremony marking this occasion. The selected students will receive dinner at the event, the opportunity to network with key business and public officials and receive a letter of appreciation from the Dean of the Faculty of Business, confirming their participation.

Along with close to 1,000 guests, numerous dignitaries are expected to be present at the event which will be hosted by Masters of Ceremony for the evening, radio host and columnist Ted Woloshyn, and by the former leader of the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario, John Tory.

Mississauga City Centre campus

The black-tie event will take place at the Mississauga Convention Centre on Saturday, February 12, 2011.  The Mayor has requested proceeds from the dinner party will be used to support Sheridan College’s new Mississauga Campus, which will be the home of our Faculty of Business, set to open next September, just north of the Living Arts Centre. 156,000 sq. ft. the facility will serve 1,760 business students immediately, and 5,000 eventually.
