OCMC 2010 Quiz Bowl – an award themed resounding success with competitors and audience alike

The Ontario Colleges’ Marketing Competition (OCMC) Quiz Bowl event was a rousing success for the more than 500 hundred students and faculty at the Delta Meadowvale Inn.  The Quiz Bowl event is a combined team effort partnering all the colleges into 13 four-person teams.  Each team was named after a leading character from hit films through the years from – The Charlie Chaplins, The Terminators, The Jokers, The Harry Potters to Jake Sully from the recent Avatar film. Student teams were challenged in the quick-fire response event where they answered current marketing questions  drawn from college textbooks Contemporary Marketing, Boone, Nelson Thomson, Canadian Marketing in Action, Tuckwell, Pearson Education, and Marketing, Crane, McGraw-Hill and from Marketing Magazine, September 13 and October 25 and Strategy Magazine, August 30, and September 30, editions.

The first place (Gold Award) team, the Darth Vaders – Zamzam Ibrshim, Agonquin College, Cassandra Lavigne, Humber College, Diana Matheis, Seneca College, and Karli Deter St. Clair College each won 4 points for their respective colleges.

The Neytiri team place Silver in the Quiz Bowl Event.  Juno Jesuthasan, Sheridan College, Ali Waters, George Brown College, Melissa Ionita, Centennial College, and Wahida Lakhani, St Lawrence College each contributed 3 points overall for their respective colleges.

The Indiana Jones team placed Bronze overall in the Quiz Bowl event. Roland Draper, Algonquin College, Cveta Krcmar, Seneca College, Emily Zajac, Georgian College, and Chris Carre, Sheridan College each collected two points for their college.

Taking the fourth place position is Team Catwoman. Fabierre Bonaparte, Centennial College, Stephen Ferguson, Georgian College, Ian Trider, Humber College, Matt McFadden, Seneca College each bring one point for their college.
