Sheridan School of Business Academic Awards 2010 fills MacDonald Heaslip Hall with a capacity crowd
The recent Sheridan School of Business Academic Awards evening filled Sheridan’s MacDonald Heaslip Hall to capacity as more than 100 awards valued at more than $60,000 were conferred on worthy Sheridan Business students. The event began for Sheridan students, their families, friends, and loved ones with a light buffet and culminated with the awards ceremony.
Financial expert and broadcaster Lou Schizas was master of ceremonies for the college event that annually awards students who distinguish themselves as high achieving academics, college leaders, or community leaders. Corporate and individual sponsors generously contribute to the Sheridan School of Business awards.
The event, hosted by retiring interim Dean Carolyn Ferreira, included guests, Senior Vice-president Academic Mary Preece, and Jeff Zabudsky, President and CEO, Sheridan College.
Dr. Zabudsky provided the keynote address for the event and invited students and families to visit the site of the new Sheridan School of Business to be officially opened for September 2011. The new Mississauga campus, located on City Centre Boulevard, next to the Mississauga City Hall, in Mississauga, will be a state of the art facility for the Sheridan School of Business, and a cornerstone of Sheridan College’s on-going activities in the Mississauga area.
In addition to the more than 100 students awards, the event was also marked by the induction of Tina D’elassandro Powell, a Sheridan School of Business graduate who also has distinguished herself in the world of publishing and community giving. Powell is a distinguished author and the President and CEO of Big Fat Pen Publishing Inc and has published more than 600,000 childrens’ books.
