Sheridan School of Business OCMC team prepares for this year’s Ontario College’s Marketing Competition
After a challenging selection process, the 2009 Sheridan School of Business Ontario Colleges’ Marketing Competition team has been chosen and the members are ready to apply their top-notch marketing skills to the rigorous events at OCMC 2009.
The Sheridan School of Business team is complemented by 18 second and third year students from the Trafalgar and Davis campuses from the Marketing and the Advertising programs. The Sheridan OCMC team is now working with their School of Business faculty coaches for 11 challenging OCMC events against students from 15 Ontario colleges.
Sheridan’s OCMC team has a winning legacy and in the past nine years the Sheridan School of Business team has placed in the top three positions 6 times, capturing Gold, Silver, and Bronze Awards overall in the competition. Each year winning team members consistently garner many of the top awards for each of the 11 challenging events at OCMC.
Sheridan School of Business Marketing and Advertising students must undergo a rigorous application process where they are invited to apply for the team by a sponsoring faculty mentor. Applications are reviewed and a select group of students are invited to participate in “The Cage Match”, a skill testing, nerve-wracking event where students prepare and deliver a marketing case scenario in a tight time-limited competition. The winners of this highly competitive event comprise the OCMC team.
In all, more than 350 students from 15 Ontario Colleges meet annually for the Ontario Colleges’ Marketing Competition. They make the journey from all regions of Ontario to represent their peers, their college, and their business program in a student-friendly, industry-sponsored test of skills. Each year a college is chosen to host the event at their college and in their community. The Ontario Colleges’ Marketing Competition is now in its 29th year – this year’s event is hosted by Mohawk College in Hamilton – and the 30th annual OCMC will be hosted by Sheridan College in 2010.
