Human Resources Professionals Association, Halton chapter awards three scholarships to top Sheridan Human Resource program students

Three Sheridan School of Business Human Resources Management students were the recipients of a $1000 scholarship, compliments of the Halton Chapter of Human Resources Professional Association (HRPAH). Second year Human Resources student Jo-Ann Mandau, third year year student Ernest Wong, and Graduate Certificate student Elinor Shinehoft each received the stipend from HRPAH President, Mike Bennett, who is also a Sheridan College Human Resources graduate.

The annual networking event, hosted by the executive of the HRPAH was held at the Holiday Inn Conference Centre in Oakville and featured a wide selection of refreshments and plenty of time for Sheridan students to network with local human resources professionals in attendance.

“The key to the success of this type of event is to ensure that our students have a good selection of local human resources professionals to network with,” said John Hardisty, Coordinator, Sheridan School of Business Human Resources programs.

Hardisty, also a Board of Directors member for HRPA, said that the annual event was an important event for the local HRPAH members to get a chance to meet students in the program and make connections with the new crop of Human Resources talent being graduated from the Sheridan School of Business.

Attendees at the HRPAH networking event included students from Sheridan’s undergraduate and graduate Human Resources Management programs and members of the Halton Chapter of the Human Resources Professional Association.

HRPAH members included Jay Brown, Manager, Recruitment and Selection, The Cumis Group, Ivan Buzzelli, Career Management Consultant, Right Management, Sarah Esau, Recruitment Coordinator, Blockbuster Canada, Jennifer Knutsen, AMEC, Sabrina Mathewson, Engage Human Resources Solution, Sherri Rossi, Findability Solutions, Pam Ross, Manager, Talent Development, Montana’s Cookhouse, Lindsay Sleightholm, Employment Coordinator, Petro-Canada, Emily Shaw, Corporate Training Coordinator, Atomic Energy of Canada, Irene Lis, President, Aligned People Strategies, Lin Tian, Consultant, Human Capital Services, and Marilyn Kezele, Recruiter, Erie Personnel Corporation.

The lively event sponsored by the HRPAH chapter also featured a great selection of prizes for Sheridan Human Resources students and professionals willing to share their thoughts about the the importance of the event.
